Rooted in Nature, Inspired by Culture
Nature has always set the stage for human activity, fueling our creativity and expression. For as long as humans have inhabited this planet, we have hunted, fished, sown, and harvested—creating traditions and cultures along the way. We have pushed boundaries, showcasing our ability and willingness to challenge and harness the forces of nature.
This product is rooted in nature, inspired by culture, and crafted with a deep love for the Northern Norwegian landscape and culinary heritage. Lofoten, in Northern Norway, is perfectly suited for producing dried fish. For generations, skrei (cod) has been caught, hung on poles, and transformed into dried fish—a vital export for Norway for hundreds of years and the key ingredient in lutefisk. In the USA, lutefisk and lusekofte represent some of the most “Norwegian” elements we have. This inspired us to create "LUTEKOFTA." The pattern tells the story of the Norwegian “skrei” in the sea, caught in nets, hung on poles, and turned into dried fish.
Join us in celebrating this rich heritage that connects nature and culture!
Nature Based
Throughout much of the world, people have used garments made from sheep wool all of time. Wool is temperature-regulating, breathable, natural, and an incredibly durable material. And if you care for wool clothing properly, it can last you a long time.
But that's not all: Wool is a natural resource that, when decomposed, releases carbon and nutrients into the soil, which is beneficial for plant life. As an animal-based product, wool attracts nutrient-seeking organisms that contribute to natural decomposition.
Fortunately, more people around the world are becoming conscious of sustainability and timelessness when purchasing clothing. We are supporters of the new trend in the fashion world: Slow Fashion.
LUTEKOFTA is from nature – to you. Pure, solid, natural. And comfortable.
A product that can be passed down through generations.
Slow Fashion, Not Fast Trends
The fashion industry often celebrates what is new, but we celebrate what lasts.
Culture That Lives On
A Lutekofta sweater is not just clothing — it is a cultural bridge. Its patterns echo the fishing nets of Lofoten, the cod hung on racks, and the mountains rising above Norwegian villages. Just as wool garments once kept generations warm, our sweaters carry forward stories of heritage, belonging, and resilience.
By choosing LUTEKOFTA, you are not only investing in a sweater. You are helping to keep alive a culture shaped by nature, community, and history.
